Backstage's Melinda Loewenstein discusses the casting and directing process with Sole Proprietor director Dan Eberle.

“You have to be open to the possibility that there’s something out there much better than what you think you’re looking for,” he says, noting that just because he thinks he’s looking for a certain thing, there’s no upside to rejecting someone else’s take if it’s better.

World Premiere of Dan Eberle's CUT TO BLACK

2013 Brooklyn Film Festival

2013 Brooklyn Film Festival

Dan Eberle’s Brooklyn noir Cut to Black has been selected to be the Closing Night Film at the 16th Annual Brooklyn Film Festival.

A summary of this year’s theme from the BFF site:

Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) themed the 2013 edition:
MAGNETIC
MAGNETIC is a study on all those invisible forces that bring people together or push them apart. It is also our personal invitation to read between the lines while questioning the motives behind. MAGNETIC will be a showcase of smart, multi-layered, deceiving, manipulative, yet unseen films coming from all continents in search of a Brooklyn breakthrough.

Cut to Black will screen alongside films Hairbrained (with Brendan Frasier and Parker Posey), and Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes (with Jessica Biel and Alfred Molina).
